As a Technical Leader and Manager, Platform & Data, you will guide and contribute to the engineering of core platform services and data systems that power mission-critical business functions. You will combine hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, ensuring system reliability, performance, and data quality. This role involves close collaboration with Product, ML, and customer-facing teams to deliver scalable, cost-effective, and observable solutions. You will set engineering standards, manage team growth, and drive initiatives that enable rapid, high-quality delivery across the platform. The position offers the opportunity to influence the architecture, define best practices, and mentor engineers while shaping the platform’s future. You will also engage with integration partners, ensuring resilient data flows and robust service orchestration.

Accountabilities

• Lead and contribute to the design, architecture, and operation of core platform services and data systems, spanning ingestion, transformation, storage, serving, and observability.
• Define data contracts, schemas, and transformation workflows (e.g., dbt) for downstream systems and ML features.
• Establish engineering standards for CI/CD, code quality, documentation, and reproducibility across platform and data repositories.
• Set and enforce SLOs for reliability, latency, and data freshness, implementing automated quality checks and guardrails.
• Prioritize, scope, and unblock work; coordinate cross-team dependencies to deliver end-to-end value streams.
• Oversee observability, monitoring, and alerting, ensuring high availability and fault tolerance of platform and data systems.
• Recruit, onboard, and mentor engineers; manage performance, growth plans, and career development.
• Maintain current documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, READMEs, and data lineage.
• Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to stakeholders, providing transparency and alignment.

• 6+ years building and operating production platforms and data systems in B2B SaaS environments; 2+ years leading engineers.
• Strong technical expertise in Python, SQL, orchestration tools (e.g., Prefect, Airflow), ELT frameworks (e.g., dbt), cloud data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery), event streaming (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis), containerization and service orchestration (e.g., Docker, ECS, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code (e.g., Terraform).
• Proven track record in setting engineering standards (CI/CD, code review, testing strategy) and delivering reliable, observable, cost-efficient systems.
• Experience defining and meeting SLOs, incident management, and continuous improvement practices.
• Skilled in designing resilient interfaces and integrations with third-party systems, planning for schema drift and backfills.
• Excellent communication skills, able to simplify complexity, make trade-offs explicit, and align diverse teams.
• Start-up mindset: bias for action, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to be both strategic and hands-on.
