Senior/Staff Software Engineer, Localization
Skills
- Strong C++ development experience in production systems with architecture, testing, and performance trade-offs
- Proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with ROS/ROS2
- Deep knowledge of SLAM, pose estimation, probabilistic filtering (Kalman), and non-linear optimization
- Experience with GNSS/INS, IMU/GPS/Lidar sensor fusion and calibration techniques
- Practical experience processing large-scale real-world datasets and performing algorithm benchmarking and tuning
- Ability to meet real-time system and performance constraints
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize sensor-based localization and odometry algorithms for autonomous vehicles
- Implement sensor fusion pipelines using IMU, GPS, Lidar (and other sensors) to produce robust pose estimates
- Develop and integrate real-time SLAM techniques for structured and unstructured environments
- Collaborate with perception, mapping, and control teams to integrate localization outputs into the autonomy stack
- Conduct simulation and real-world testing, validation, and benchmarking of localization systems
- Analyze field-test data to debug, tune, and improve localization performance under challenging conditions
- Research and adopt state-of-the-art lidar and camera-based localization techniques and performance optimizations
Education
- M.S. or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
