Flock Safety is seeking a Director of Sales Compensation & Strategy who will lead the design, governance, and execution of all sales compensation programs across the organization in close partnership with Sales Operations. Critical to continued growth and success of this organization is taking a highly strategic approach to compensation. Flock seeks to ensure the right incentives are in place to motivate the enterprise sales organization to do their best work, ensure proper financial compensation and always do the right thing. You will ensure that compensation plans drive desired sales behaviors, align with business objectives, and are administered accurately, efficiently, and compliantly across all variable based roles (sales reps, pre-sales, success, etc.). The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on — skilled in compensation plan design, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration between Sales, Finance, HR, and IT.
Key responsibilities:
Program Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end sales compensation process, including plan design, modeling, implementation, and ongoing management for all roles with variable compensation.
Plan Design & Strategy: Partner with Sales Leadership, Finance, and HR to design incentive plans that align with company growth goals, motivate performance, and maintain fiscal discipline.
Governance & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust policies and procedures for crediting, adjustments, and exceptions (including “blue bird” deals).
System Management: Lead administration of sales compensation systems (e.g., SPIFF, Varicent, or CaptivateIQ), ensuring data integrity, automation, and reporting accuracy.
Analytics & Insights: Provide actionable reporting on plan effectiveness, attainment trends, and ROI. Conduct scenario modeling to support business planning and budgeting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Sales Operations, Finance, Accounting and HR to ensure compensation plans are understood, well-communicated, and effectively operationalized.
Change Management: Drive continuous improvement in processes, technology, and communication to enhance transparency, timeliness, and fairness in incentive payouts.
Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team responsible for compensation administration, reporting, and analytics.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field (MBA or professional certification such as CCP preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in sales compensation, incentive plan design, and/or sales operations
People management experience
Expertise in compensation software (SPIFF, CaptivateIQ, Varicent, etc.)
Experience with CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce, NetSuite)
Strong proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
Deep understanding of sales compensation structures (quota-based, commission, bonus, and SPIFF programs).
Ability to balance analytical rigor with strategic thinking.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities with a focus on operational excellence and compliance.

The salary range for this role is $190,000 - $230,000, as well as Flock Safety stock options. Where you fall within the compensation range is based on how well you demonstrate the competencies required for the role, along with years of directly related experience. Due to typically reserving the upper half of our compensation bands for internal growth, you can expect a starting compensation around the midpoint of the posted salary band. During the first interview with one of our recruiters, they can further clarify the exact starting salary.
