Payroll Specialist
Skills
- Proficiency with Gusto, ADP, Paychex or similar payroll systems
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Xero integrations
- Experience with multi-state payroll and state tax portals/registrations
- Familiarity with timekeeping integrations and data reconciliation
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills
- Strong organizational, time-management and attention-to-detail abilities
- Ability to research and interpret payroll regulations across jurisdictions
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for multiple clients across states using systems like Gusto, ADP, Paychex
- Set up and administer benefits, deductions, garnishments, and retirement contributions
- Reconcile payroll data from timekeeping systems (TSheets/QuickBooks Time, Deputy, When I Work, etc.)
- Monitor and apply state and federal payroll laws, wage/hour rules, and tax requirements
- Manage client payroll inquiries and act as primary payroll point of contact
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and compliance filings
- Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and standardization
- Collaborate with team members and contribute to building a payroll-focused offering
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
