About the roleAre you fascinated by how work is changing—and eager to help shape what comes next? Atlassian is seeking a Lead Behavioral Scientist to join our Teamwork Lab. In this high-impact, individual contributor role, you’ll bridge academic rigor with real-world impact, developing innovative practices and playbooks that help our customers unlock the full value of Atlassian products.You’ll work at the crossroads of technology, workforce trends, and organizational change—partnering with leaders and cross-functional teams to dig into the root causes of workplace challenges, spot emerging opportunities, and guide us toward innovative, human-centered solutions.
What you’ll do
Design, test, and refine new work practices and guidance that help Atlassian customers maximize value from our products and build a unified point of view about how the best modern teams work.
Design and conduct original research—including experiments with teams to test and validate new ways of working.
Synthesize internal and external research, including original studies and Teamwork Lab findings, into actionable insights, frameworks, and practices for individuals, teams, and leaders.
Partner with Sales, Product Marketing, and Product Management to deeply understand customer challenges and identify opportunities for companies to improve ways of working.
Serve as a subject matter expert on teamwork, AI, and modern ways of working, providing guidance to cross-functional teams.
Collaborate with senior leaders to align research-driven practices with business objectives and organizational rhythms.
Translate complex organizational concepts into clear, practical recommendations for both technical and non-technical audiences, including C-suite and senior executives.
What we’re looking for:
Advanced degree (PhD or Master’s preferred) in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Behavioral Science, or a related field.
5+ years of hands-on experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, or organizational transformation, with a strong track record of translating research into business strategies.
Proven track record of translating behavioral research into practical solutions for large, complex organizations. Experience developing and implementing new ways of working, with a focus on teamwork, leadership, and the future of work.
Exceptional storytelling, presentation, and communication skills—able to distill complex research into clear, compelling insights for executive stakeholders, diverse audiences, and cross-functional teams.
Deep curiosity, adaptability, and a growth mindset. Comfortable navigating ambiguity, driving change, and collaborating effectively across distributed and remote teams.
Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $182,700 - $238,525
Zone B: $164,700 - $215,025
Zone C: $152,100 - $198,575
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
