Skills
- Experience leading safety councils, governance boards, or cross-functional safety working groups
- Background in safety or operations leadership in regulated/complex domains (autonomy, ADAS, robotics, defense)
- Proven ability to run safety programs spanning field operations, compliance, and technical teams
- Strong knowledge and practical application of safety frameworks such as FMEA, STPA, and bowtie analysis
- Experience with incident investigation and root-cause analysis methodologies
- Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder influencing skills
- Experience building scalable processes and governance that endure operational pressure
Responsibilities
- Establish and lead a global Safety Council to standardize documentation, training, tooling, incident ownership, and dry-run processes
- Conduct hazard assessments (FMEA, STPA) and maintain a live safety risk register with mitigation strategies
- Lead incident response and root-cause investigations, recommend corrective actions, and ensure closure
- Partner with engineering to assess system changes against safety requirements and industry standards
- Design and manage fleet safety monitoring, track safety metrics, and close feedback loops between ops and engineering
- Drive governance and compliance with regulatory requirements and support safety audits and safety case documentation
- Develop scalable tooling and processes for safety flagging, escalation, and decision-making
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, engineering, legal, and policy to build consensus on safety topics
Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, safety, human factors, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant discipline desirable but not required
