Account Executive - SLED East (Remote)

Appian is a public software company that automates business processes via its AI-powered process platform. The SLED East Account Executive will manage a primarily greenfield territory, perform top-of-funnel prospecting, and drive complex 6–12 month enterprise sales cycles to State, Local, and Education customers while collaborating cross-functionally to deliver business value and land new logos.

Skills

  • Proven ability to navigate complex enterprise sales cycles
  • Strong presentation and discovery skills for both technical (IT) and business (LOB) audiences
  • Expertise in prospecting, pipeline generation, and account acquisition
  • Experience selling to State, Local, and Education customers and understanding of public sector procurement
  • Proficiency with CRM tools and opportunity management
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and engage partner ecosystems

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and develop a primarily greenfield geographic territory focused on State, Local & Education (SLED) accounts
  • Manage full sales cycle (approximately 6–12 months) from discovery through negotiation and close
  • Deliver compelling in-person and virtual presentations to LOB and IT stakeholders, articulating ROI and business value
  • Act as a trusted advisor to multiple stakeholders and coordinate internal resources (sales, customer success, partners) to advance deals
  • Consistently achieve quota and produce repeatable pipeline generation and forecasting
  • Land new customer logos and expand opportunities within accounts
  • Stay current on industry trends and competitive positioning to refine sales strategy

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
  • Continued professional development and sales training experience encouraged
