Job Description
Zayo is seeking a Senior Project Manager – OSP Long Haul Implementation to lead the development, planning, engineering, construction, and delivery of new and overbuild long haul routes across the central U.S. and Canada. This role will oversee a portfolio of complex, high-value projects and provide leadership to a team of project managers, ensuring successful execution aligned with business objectives and customer requirements.
Ideally, this role will be based in Colorado with regular in-office presence at our Denver/Wynkoop office. Remote work may be considered for candidates based in Indiana or Ohio.
Responsibilities
Direct long haul implementation programs from concept through delivery, aligning project execution with organizational goals and customer commitments.
Work with a team of project managers, ensuring effective execution of scope, schedule, and budget across multiple concurrent projects.
Assess requirements (routing, fiber counts, hut spacing, permitting complexity, etc.), conduct route feasibility studies, and validate assumptions to de-risk projects early.
Establish, manage, and forecast multi-million-dollar budgets. Ensure cost control and proactively mitigate risks to keep projects on track.
Develop and maintain master project schedules with clear milestones, driving accountability and timely delivery across cross-functional teams.
Anticipate, identify, and mitigate risks. Lead resolution of complex regulatory and permitting challenges (NEPA, CPUC, Section 106, Tribal Lands, etc.).
Oversee RFP processes, vendor negotiations, and contract execution. Ensure performance compliance with contract terms, quality standards, and delivery timelines.
Lead construction resource planning, execution monitoring, and quality assurance to ensure adherence to OSP best practices and design standards.
Provide timely and accurate project and program updates to senior leadership, stakeholders, and key customers.
Ensure complete and accurate project as-builts, handoff to operations/support teams, and proper inventory capture.
Partner with regional OSP teams to align long haul projects with local initiatives and broader network strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred (Engineering, Construction Management, Telecommunications, or related field). MBA or equivalent business acumen strongly preferred.
Minimum of eight (8) years of OSP project/program management with proven leadership of large, complex, and capital-intensive projects.
Strong background in permitting, regulatory compliance, and managing multi-jurisdictional builds.
Deep knowledge of OSP construction methods, fiber specifications, splicing standards, and optical transport network design.
Demonstrated ability to manage multimillion-dollar budgets and schedules.
Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with experience overseeing RFPs and construction contracts.
Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders and present to executives.
Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Google Earth, AutoCAD, and project management tools.
Ability to travel as needed to oversee projects, including periods of significant travel at critical phases.
Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
Willingness to be on-call as required by business needs.
Estimated base pay range: $87,600 - $134,700 USD/annually.
The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
