The Opportunity:
We are looking for a versatile, curious, and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join the Visa Acceptance Platform – Integration team, a cross-functional engineering group within the broader Acceptance Solutions Technology organization. This team is responsible for building and scaling our global notification infrastructure, including webhook delivery, email and SMS delivery systems, subscription management tools, and developer-facing integration capabilities.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work closely with fellow engineers, technical leads, and cross-functional partners to help deliver frictionless, scalable solutions that empower partners and the developer community to build and innovate on the Visa Acceptance Platform. You will contribute to the design, development, and operation of event-driven, fault-tolerant systems that support billions of transactions and enable real-time communication across Visa’s ecosystem. Your work will directly support platform reliability, developer experience, and partner autonomy — with opportunities to learn modern technologies, contribute to high-impact projects, and grow your engineering skills in a global environment.
The Work itself:
Design, build, and enhance backend services and APIs for Visa’s notification infrastructure.
Lead implementation for specific subsystems, ensuring scalability, availability, and fault tolerance.
Modernize existing codebases to meet evolving performance and integration requirements.
Implement observability-first engineering practices, including logging, tracing, and metrics.
Apply secure-by-design principles and ensure compliance with Visa’s internal and external standards.
Collaborate across teams to build best-in-class software solutions for Visa’s global offerings.
Mentor junior engineers and provide code review feedback to maintain standards.
Leverage AI tools and automation to improve developer productivity and code quality.
Participate in release management activities, including multi-region deployments and progressive delivery strategies.

Basic Qualifications

-Databases and Data Management – 3+ years of experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server/MSSQL) and/or NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
-Messaging and Distributed Systems – 2+ years of experience developing scalable, secure distributed systems or event‑driven architectures, experience with messaging platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
-Cloud and Containerization – 2+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
-APIs and Integration – 2+ years of experience building and consuming REST APIs, familiarity with GraphQL or gRPC and API gateways/service meshes (Istio, Linkerd) is a plus.
-Observability and Monitoring – 2+ years of experience implementing observability practices and using monitoring/tracing tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry).
-CI/CD and DevOps – 2+ years of experience developing CI/CD pipelines and using deployment automation tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Argo CD.
-AI and Developer Productivity – 1+ years of experience leveraging AI technologies (GenAI tooling, intelligent automation, NLP) to improve developer workflows or platform capabilities, proficiency with tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cline Code, or Cursor.
-Application and Infrastructure Security – 2+ years of experience with application security principles, secure coding best practices, and vulnerability remediation, familiarity with tools such as Checkmarx and Parasoft.
-Agile Delivery & Release Management – 2+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, including backlog refinement, user story creation, and multi-region release strategies.
