Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) is an area within the Office of the Dean of Students that provides members of sororities and fraternities with support, advisement, leadership opportunities, and developmental programming to enhance their educational and membership experience. The SFL staff and graduate assistants serve as liaisons between the university and the six student-run governing council communities: The Affiliate Leadership Circle (ALC), the Interfraternity Council (IFC), the Latino Pan-Hellenic Council (LPHC), the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), the Texas Asian Pan-Hellenic Council (TAPC), and the University Panhellenic Council (UPC).
Purpose
SFL Ambassadors are a group of UT Austin sorority and fraternity members who serve as official undergraduate representatives of the Texas Greek community. SFL Ambassadors will provide information and available resources to students and families who are interested in learning more about the affiliated Greek-letter organizations on campus. Monthly team meetings will focus on personal leadership development and provide opportunities for discussion about relevant issues facing sororities and fraternities on our campus and across the country.
Responsibilities
• Attend all SFL Ambassador trainings and staff meetings
• Maintain updated knowledge of sorority and fraternity recruitment/intake processes and opportunities
• Serve as a representative at involvement fairs and other tabling events
• Curate, compose and publish content for use within area social media, website, and/or newsletters
• Collaborate with campus partners to promote the sorority and fraternity experience across campus and to prospective students
• Assist with administrative duties such as staffing the SFL front desk, answering phone calls and emails, and other duties as assigned by the SFL staff
• Support SFL staff with programming efforts (program prep and day-of tasks such as making nametags, gathering supplies, staffing a check in table, event setup or take down, decorating when appropriate, etc.)
• Meet with supervisor for ideation, updates, and troubleshooting
• Membership in an affiliated sorority or fraternity at UT Austin
• A desire to work as part of a team, with college students, and stakeholders
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable with the use of technology
• The ability to provide excellent customer service
• The ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, and guests
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
$10 per hour
Typical Office Conditions / Onsite SSB
10 hours per week - Onsite at SSB during normal hours (Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm)
