Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) is searching for Senior Desktop Support Specialist to join our Computer Support team providing IT support to research units. Duties will include overseeing of the research support office, meeting with key research personnel, maintaining good relationships with all research units and developing research support practices. The Computer Support team provides best-in-class customer service and technical support to 2000+ faculty and staff across various departments at the University of Texas at Austin. LAITS Computer Support provides remote support utilizing Amazon Connect and BeyondTrust Remote Support. We also provide in-person support by utilizing our Service Desks (SDs) for walk-ups and going desk-side to offices and classrooms. In this position, you will be the face of research support for LAITS and will be tasked with providing the best support experience for all research customers.
Serve as team lead of SEA Service Desk by supervising a small team of research desktop support technicians who provide high-touch IT support. Manage staff scheduling. Facilitate 1-on-1 meetings with staff. Perform annual performance appraisals and provide staff feedback.
Develop, maintain, and manage customer relationships.
Work with customers to resolve escalated issues.
Lead training and documentation efforts for research support teams.
Perform work on additional projects assigned by Management.
Professional experience providing technical support in a research focused environment.
Experience installing and supporting hardware, software and networked systems in a multi-protocol environment.
3+ years of experience in technical support in a large higher education environment.
Excellent interpersonal skills, including verbal, nonverbal, and written communication.
Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and independently with limited direction.
Ability to maintain and manage information and documentation in an organized manner.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Bachelor's degree.
More than 5 years of experience supporting Windows and macOS computers in a networked environment.
Experience supporting a wide variety of commercial and educational software applications.
Experience leading a small team.
Experience using BeyondTrust Remote Support.
Experience using Amazon Connect.
Experience using ServiceNow or other ticketing system.
Experience supporting wired / wireless networks.
Professional experience in a university setting.
$60,000+ Depending on Qualifications
