Head of Retention

Mars Men is a fast-growing subscription brand in the men’s health space and retention is the backbone of our business. As our Head of Retention, you’ll own the full post-purchase customer lifecycle: from first order to loyal subscriber.


You’ll oversee email and SMS marketing, build customer lifecycle strategies, and create data-backed retention campaigns that maximize lifetime value and reduce churn. You’ll work closely with our Growth team to align on acquisition-to-retention flow, and with CX to build a feedback loop that keeps customers engaged and supported at every touchpoint.


This role blends creative storytelling, customer psychology, and sharp data analysis. You’ll turn insights into systems that scale, and ensure every Mars Men customer stays longer, spends more, and feels like part of the mission.


What You'll Do
  • Own Customer Lifetime Value (LTV): Develop and execute strategies that increase repeat purchase rate and subscriber retention
  • Reduce Churn: Build systems and campaigns that identify and win back at-risk customers
  • Oversee Email & SMS: Manage and optimize Klaviyo flows, campaigns, and segmentation for maximum engagement
  • Lead Retention Reporting: Own dashboards for churn, retention, and LTV; pull insights and act on them weekly
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with Growth to align messaging from acquisition through retention, and with CX to ensure feedback informs strategy
  • Build Lifecycle Programs: Design onboarding, winback, and reactivation journeys that increase long-term loyalty
  • Test & Iterate: Continuously A/B test messaging, offers, and timing to improve performance
  • Champion the Customer: Use data and feedback to advocate for customer needs and long-term experience improvements


Must Have Requirements
  • 3–5 years of experience in retention, lifecycle, or CRM marketing (ideally for a subscription/DTC brand)
  • Deep experience managing Klaviyo (or similar ESP) and SMS platforms
  • Proven track record improving LTV and reducing churn in a subscription model
  • Strong analytical skills; comfortable with data visualization, cohort tracking, and forecasting
  • Experience working with CX teams to implement customer feedback
  • Excellent communication and project management skills
  • Strategic thinker with hands-on execution skills—can build, test, and launch quickly
