Summary of Job Duties:

The duties of the postdoctoral researcher include managing research projects focused on the impact of micronutrients on healthy aging throughout the lifespan, writing and submitting independent grant proposals, writing and submitting first author journal articles, and designing and carrying out experiments. The postdoc will train students in the lab as needed and set an example of leadership for good personal and good scientific conduct, to include rigor and reproducibility in experiments. Some travel for training or research conferences may be required and some work on the weekends or outside normal business hours may also be required to meet the goals and deadlines of the projects. Strong practice rodent handling and willing to learn new techniques and employ them with superior skill and knowledge is important. A solid understanding of nutrition-related metabolism is necessary to be successful in this position.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • PhD with experience in nutritional or biological sciences or related field from an accredited institution of higher education

  • Experience with rodent and mammalian cell culture model studies

  • Experience in Seahorse mitochondrial bioenergetic assays using tissues and mammalian cells

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with molecular biology and biochemical techniques including isolation and analyses of protein, DNA, RNA (qPCR, western blotting, ELISA)

  • Experience with cell staining and imaging, and subcellular fractionation

  • Experience with data analysis and interpretation, and preparation of manuscripts for publication

  • Experience in transient transactivation assays, triglyceride extraction/quantification

  • Experience in handling 'omics datasets and bioinformatics analysis

  • Experience with submitting journal articles and training students in lab techniques and data analysis


Additional Information:

This position is a Designated Research Position and is regulated by the Arkansas Research Education Protection Act of 2025.  Prior to issuance of an offer of employment, the University is required to request and obtain additional information about an applicant’s background and, if required, conduct an additional review of that background information.
