Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree in emergency management, public administration, criminal justice, homeland security, environmental science, or related field
At least one to two years of experience in emergency preparedness, disaster response or recovery, public safety or law enforcement support, or administrative support in emergency or risk management settings
Applicable equivalencies may be considered for the above qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in emergency management, homeland security, public administration, environmental science, urban planning, public health, or related field
Completion of EMA Independent Study (IS) courses, including but not limited to:
IS-100: Introduction to the Incident Command System
IS-200: Basic Incident Command System
IS-700: National Incident Management System (NIMS)
IS-800: National Response Framework
At least two to four years of experience in emergency management or disaster planning, public safety or law enforcement support, risk assessment or hazard mitigation, or working with local, state, or federal agencies on emergency issues
Experience developing or maintaining emergency plans, EOPs (Emergency Operations Plans), COOPs (Continuity of Operations Plans), etc.
