U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance (USBIF) provides tax credit investments, loans, private equity investments and banking services to organizations and projects that support affordable housing, renewable energy, economic development, and job creation in communities across the country. The Relationship Manager (RM) position is part of the Corporate Sales and Advisory (CSA) team within USBIF.
CSA makes and manages equity investments in private equity funds as well as identifies opportunities to provide banking products and services to our USBIF customers and prospects, particularly those within our private equity and New Markets Tax Credit businesses – generally with revenues of $10MM or greater.
Candidates will be able to combine their experience in banking and finance with a passion for impact investing and economic development across the country to impact businesses within the Low to Lower Middle Market segment.
Position Summary:
As a Relationship Manager your primary focus is driving growth by identifying, prospecting, and acquiring new corporate and commercial banking clients with over $10MM in annual revenue. This position represents an exciting opportunity to be a key contributor to a growing business line within USBIF. This role is tailored for a results-driven professional passionate about building strong client relationships and expanding the bank’s market presence. Your success will be measured by your ability to cultivate leads, secure new business, and contribute to the bank’s overall revenue and market share growth.
Key Responsibilities include:
Prospecting & Lead Generation:
Identify and develop new banking opportunities by collaborating with USB and USBIF product areas to offer traditional bank products and services to small and medium-sized businesses that have received a New Market Tax Credit investment or are part of a private equity fund portfolio.
Develop and execute a strategic prospecting plan to build and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
Client Acquisition:
Independently and proactively identify, segment, and engage potential customers through various internal and external channels to foster new client relationships within USBIF or refer them to the appropriate area of the bank.
Initiate contact and engage with decision-makers, presenting tailored banking solutions that meet client needs.
Conduct thorough needs assessments and deliver compelling proposals to secure new client relationships.
Market Expertise:
Understand bank product features and credit parameters to identify suitable products for prospective clients within the Low to Lower Middle Market space.
Stay informed about market trends, competitor offerings, and industry developments to position the bank as a leader in commercial banking.
Relationship Building:
Building relationships with product partners (RMs, Treasury, Payments, Product, Credit, etc.) to provide advice, market, and make internal referrals for bank products and services to include the full breadth of Commercial Banking products.
Build relationships, collaborate and coordinate with USB and USBIF product areas in relationship management of customers to deliver seamless onboarding experiences for new clients.
Represent the bank at industry conferences and events, enhancing brand visibility and credibility.
Monitor client satisfaction and resolve issues promptly, ensuring long-term loyalty.
Performance Metrics:
Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual new business development goals through robust scorecard measurement.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of prospecting activity, pipeline status, and closed deals in CRM tools.
Prepare and deliver regular presentations/reports to management on portfolio and pipeline performance.
Basic Qualifications
- Master's degree, or equivalent work experience
- 10 or more years of commercial lending experience

Skilled in use of various software, prospecting and data tools, including Excel for modeling, Powerpoint Salesforce, nCino, Power B.I., Tableaux.
Demonstrated business acumen with knowledge of diverse types of businesses, industries, markets, financial and economic concepts.
Excellent commercial banking and lending/underwriting experience, including financial statement analysis skills.
Strong understanding of commercial banking products and services, including credit, treasury, and cash management.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role.
