- Ability to interpret analytical data and prepare documentation for audits
- Familiarity with sample custody, chemical safety, and regulatory compliance (local/state/federal)
- Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and method performance
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze water and wastewater samples for chemical parameters (ammonia, fluoride, pH, chloride, alkalinity, etc.) and perform organic extractions and priority pollutant tests
- Operate and maintain analytical instruments including gas chromatography and related lab equipment
- Maintain laboratory safety, chemical custody, storage and proper disposal in compliance with regulations
- Review, interpret and validate data for accuracy and completeness
- Participate in internal and external audits and proficiency testing; provide requested documentation to auditors
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and analytical methods and implement continuous improvement measures
- Edit and create laboratory operating procedures to meet current practices and NELAP criteria
- Attend quality control, safety training, cross-training and vendor webinars; perform other related duties as required
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Medical Technology or related field from an accredited college or university
- Candidates without the formal degree may be considered with substantially more relevant laboratory experience
