What We Want 

We are seeking multiple student-centered professionals to join our team in advancing campus efforts to prevent alcohol and other substance misuse and interpersonal violence. The Student Development Specialist II and III positions collaborate to plan, deliver, and assess educational initiatives such as Green Dot and STAND Up, working closely with campus and community partners to foster a safer, more supportive environment for students. Ideal candidates bring strong communication, facilitation, and program coordination skills; experience building partnerships; and a commitment to evidence-informed prevention and education. Depending on experience, candidates may take on greater leadership in supervision, program evaluation, and strategic planning.

Salary:

  • Student Development Specialist II: $51,750.00 - $56,925.00

  • Student Development Specialist III: $59,512.50 - $65,463.75

Required Education & Experience:

  • Student Development Specialist II: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience AND one year of experience in student affairs work or related specialty.

  • Student Development Specialist III: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience AND three years’ experience in student affairs work or in a related specialty area with two years of experience in Student Affairs.

Preferred Education & Experience:

  • Master’s degree in student affairs health, health education, public health or related field.

  • Experience in motivational interviewing.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certified Health Education Specialist.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the ACHA Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education, and demonstrated experience in health promotion, behavior change, evidence-based theories and models.

  • Strong background in a variety of health topics, including but not limited to, sexual health, alcohol and other drug prevention, violence prevention, nutrition, and stress and time management.

  • Knowledge of responsibilities and competencies of health education and public health.

  • Knowledge of health issues and student development relative to the college population.

Responsibilities:

  • Student Development Specialist II: Assists with the development and implementation of office-wide programs, including social norming campaigns, alcohol and other drug education and interpersonal violence prevention programming. Develops and updates training and presentation materials. Creates and submits necessary reports. Makes necessary purchases and completes administrative processes. Utilizes necessary databases and reports for groups. Assist in the development of the Division of Student Affairs through participation on University, Division and Departmental Committees and task forces.

  • Student Development Specialist III: Develops short- and long-term programmatic plans and coordinates implementation for interpersonal violence prevention programming. Responsible for coordination of additional programs and initiatives as assigned by the Assistant Director. Initiates contact and work collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to deliver relevant presentations, workshops, and trainings. Meets with and coaches' students on a variety of health topics. Create program/event budget proposals and post-event summary reports. Attend and present at local/regional/national conferences. Assists in the interpretation and development of University/Departmental policies and procedures. Maintains positive working relationships with office and department stakeholders including student organizations, community and campus partners and assigned working groups or task forces. Serves as a representative on department, division, and university committees and task forces at events, and to department stakeholders as assigned.
