The Un‑carrier becomes the first in U.S. wireless to set a target to achieve net‑zero emissions across its entire carbon footprint by 2040.
T-Mobile joined the Climate Pledge, which is powered by 380 companies in 34 countries around the globe that pledge to reach net-zero carbon by 2040.
The Climate Pledge, co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019, is a collective commitment to achieve net-zero 10 years ahead of The Paris Agreement.
In 2019, T-Mobile was the first in the U.S. wireless industry to set science-based targets (SBTs) that address our Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and align to 1.5℃. Since then, T-Mobile has aggressively worked towards reaching these targets. Even after completing the largest merger in wireless history in 2020, we are proud to have achieved both of our original targets at the end of 2021.
People can’t thrive unless our planet, the world that sustains us, is thriving. And the Un-carrier is going all in when it comes to doing our part to build a more sustainable future.
We’ll continue to report our progress in our annual Corporate Responsibility Report and to CDP, where we earned an A- for our 2021 CDP Climate Change disclosures. To learn about the actions we’re taking to reach net-zero by 2040, check out our Pathway to Net-Zero.
