Director, Business Ethics and Investigations Program Lead
Position Summary:
The Director - Business Ethics and Investigations Program Lead will provide operational oversight of the investigations program and compliance investigation processes. Reporting to the Senior Director - Head of Business Ethics and Investigations, the Program Lead will operationalize governance and strategic initiatives by managing program execution, monitoring compliance with investigation frameworks and driving consistency across processes and reporting. The Program Lead will focus on team execution and operational continuity, including managing the reporting hotline, partnering across compliance on trending and analysis, and driving programmatic excellence and risk management by incorporating learnings into the larger compliance program. The Director - Business Ethics and Investigations Program Lead manages the team’s Lead Compliance Investigations Analyst.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the programmatic elements of the internal investigations program for the global Business Ethics and Investigations team, developing and maintaining a centralized investigations framework (including policies, procedures, analysis, and reporting).
Oversee end-to-end management of the Ethics Hotline, ensuring the hotline operates as a central and effective channel for reporting and addressing compliance and business ethics concerns throughout the organization.
Develop, implement, and execute standardized investigative policies, processes and protocols to receive, triage, document and respond to reported concerns while maintaining a commitment to transparency and accountability.
In partnership with the data analytics team, conduct regular analysis of investigations data to identify systemic issues, root causes and emerging risks to prepare and deliver executive-level reports to inform strategic decision-making and enhance the enterprise compliance risk profile.
Lead the strategic governance of investigations-related reporting, ensuring alignment with enterprise compliance reporting frameworks and coordination with internal governance committees and senior leadership.
Co-ordinate and contribute to the preparation and delivery of investigations-related reporting to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and Global Compliance Committee, ensuring reporting identifies trends, root causes, and remediation activities, and supports oversight responsibilities.
Develop and manage investigation-related communications to compliance team and other stakeholders.
Develop and execute trainings related to compliance and business ethics investigation processes and procedures and develop job aids and tools as needed.
Effectively partner with Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit, Indirect Channel Management, Employee Relations, and other stakeholder groups.
Supervise the Lead Compliance Investigations Analyst administering the Ethics Hotline.
Identify investigative process or Case Management system enhancements necessary to meet the needs of the Compliance investigations function and program
Provide support on risk assessment, training, monitoring efforts, and identifying opportunities for enhanced processes or controls.
Integrate investigations data and insights into the annual Compliance Risk Assessment process, collaborating with risk owners and stakeholders to ensure that trends, themes, and lessons learned are appropriately reflected and acted upon.
Maintain deep knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and monitor industry trends and regulatory changes or enforcement.
Foster a Speak Up culture of open communication, trust, and transparency, encouraging employees at all levels to report potential violations without fear of retaliation.
Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of applicable professional experience.
Proven experience designing, implementing or overseeing an investigations process/program.
Experience managing a confidential whistleblower and ethics hotline reporting and case management system.
Experience managing / leading compliance and business ethics investigations.
Skilled in data analysis and presentation to identify/illustrate trends, risks and opportunities.
Life sciences industry experience preferred.
Ability to apply company policies and procedures in relation to complex investigations.
Strong project management and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex organization, including collaboration with multiple stakeholders/functions.
Must have strong integrity and character, including strict adherence to confidentiality.
Prior relevant legal or forensic investigation/auditing/accounting experience preferred.
Legal degree or CPA/CFE certification preferred.
Experience with state/federal health care compliance laws and with regulatory agencies (i.e., OIG, DOJ, SEC) preferred.
Strong written & verbal communication and organizational skills.
Demonstrated skill in formulating strategies and action plans to achieve results.
Ability to embrace and support change in a dynamic and complex environment.
Compensation:
$149,300 - $329,000 salary plus bonus eligible + generally eligible for short-term and long-term financial incentives + benefits. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
