Skills
- Proven ability to create schematic symbols and physical footprints using ECAD tools
- Experience maintaining ECAD libraries and library configuration management
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturer datasheets and dimensioned drawings
- Familiarity with IPC standards, including IPC-7351
- Experience with Mentor Expedition and Mentor EDM (preferred)
- Proficiency with Excel for parts tracking and reporting
- Practical knowledge of PCB layout and routing principles
- Understanding of DFM/DFA principles
- Strong communication and collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams
- ITAR eligibility (U.S. person or eligible for required authorizations)
Responsibilities
- Create schematic symbols and physical footprints per design and datasheet requirements
- Maintain and version-control shared ECAD libraries and database-format libraries
- Translate schematic designs and board function descriptions into library parts
- Interface with manufacturing, reliability, and design engineers to resolve library and part issues
- Ensure parts comply with IPC standards and company configuration management processes
- Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) reviews
- Validate footprints against manufacturer datasheets and dimensional drawings
- Work extended hours or weekends as needed to meet project timelines
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate or degree preferred
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or related field is a plus
- Relevant IPC certifications (CID) are preferred but not strictly required
