- In-depth knowledge of California and federal environmental regulations and permitting
- Experience preparing and maintaining air emissions permits and industrial discharge permits
- Proficiency with SPCC, SWPPP, HMBP, CERS, TRI, and hazardous waste management
- Ability to perform environmental audits and translate regulatory requirements into operational controls
- Strong written and verbal communication and technical data interpretation
- Project coordination and contractor management skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site environmental compliance programs
- Maintain compliance with AQMD, LACSD, CARB, RWQCB, DTSC, CERCLA, CUPA, DOT, EPA and other applicable agencies
- Track, review, and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and provide guidance to management
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections to verify regulatory compliance
- Operate and maintain hazardous materials business plan, compliance calendar, and environmental tracking systems
- Maintain SPCC, SWPPP/BMPs, industrial wastewater permits, and other operational compliance plans
- Manage hazardous waste, CUPA, CERS, TRI and related reporting requirements
- Coordinate contractors for permitting and environmental testing and review associated reports
- Support planning for facility changes, equipment installs, and new manufacturing programs to meet permitting requirements
- Maintain positive relationships with federal, state, and county regulators and cross-functional engineering teams
Education
- Bachelor's degree required (any discipline)
- Preferably a Bachelor's degree in engineering, ideally environmental engineering
