Responsibilities
- Design high-precision space opto-mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies and electronics packaging
- Develop and test space-based infrared sensors and subsystems; demonstrate proof-of-design and qualification
- Define system-level architecture trades and establish performance/error budgets
- Build prototypes, perform failure analysis, and transition designs to production
- Integrate electronics (motors, controllers, sensors) into mechanical hardware
- Prepare formal documentation and present analysis at PDRs, CDRs, and TIMs
- Lead small engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, and manage project budgets and schedules
- Support customer hardware demonstrations and fielding activities
Education
- Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) required; MS preferred or equivalent experience
- Experience in design, development, testing, and integrated product development for complex hardware
