Skills
- 5+ years professional UI art/visual design for interactive applications (games, simulations, software)
- 3+ years designing and implementing UI for 3D environments and XR (AR/VR) or game engines (Custom/Unity/Unreal)
- Expert proficiency in design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch)
- Strong portfolio demonstrating typography, color theory, iconography, and motion graphics for data-dense interfaces
- Ability to produce design documentation and work closely with engineering on implementation
Responsibilities
- Own visual and interaction design for XR interfaces (HUDs, menus, iconography, data visualizations) from concept through production and iteration
- Create and maintain UI style guides, design systems, and component libraries that scale across wargaming and briefing applications
- Translate operational requirements into intuitive UI/UX solutions and present design roadmaps to military and business stakeholders
- Produce clear design documentation, visual specifications, and implementation guidelines for engineering teams
- Collaborate with engineering and product leads to align UI architecture and ensure performant implementation in game engines and XR runtimes
- Manage asset delivery schedules, milestone definitions, and scope with program leadership; iterate designs based on user feedback and technical constraints
- Support customer meetings, user testing, and field demonstrations (travel ~25%) and maintain relationships with military stakeholders
- Champion XR UI best practices, accessibility, and continuous improvement within the team
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Design, Game Design, HCI, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
