Responsibilities
- Develop in-house machining capability and produce precision piece parts for internal tooling
- Analyze parts and assemblies for design for manufacturability (DFM) and optimize for manufacturing/assembly
- Create collaborative plans with design, production, and support teams and manage supplier/customer relationships
- Coordinate between manufacturing, design, machinists, technicians, and quality to resolve production issues
- Implement machining process controls and programming strategies to enable lights-out manufacturing
- Specify, procure, install, and maintain machine shop equipment and ensure calibration
- Drive cost optimization and cost reduction initiatives for fabrication and processes
- Manage engineering capacity, schedules, and project plans to support production and R&D demands
- Research new materials, manufacturing technologies, and finishing options
- Estimate prototype and production manufacturing costs and maintain detailed project schedules
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or related engineering discipline (required)
- Master’s or PhD in an engineering discipline (preferred)
