Skills
- 1+ years hardware development experience in electronic or mechanical systems
- Systems-level design and testing for RF, power, communications, sensors, and human interface subsystems
- Experience with wire harness design and associated sub-components
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
- Experience writing engineering software for test automation and data analysis (Python or MATLAB preferred)
- CAD experience (NX or similar)
- Ability to interface with regulators and prepare certification deliverables
- Strong project management and cross-discipline collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Serve as responsible engineer for Starship FTS development, hardware design, qualification, and per-launch deliverables for mission licensing
- Define detailed system design: interconnect schematics, consumable budgets, harness and channel capabilities, and hardware manifest
- Perform system trades and collaborate across teams to define vehicle architecture from concept through production
- Ensure as-built FTS meets design intent, regulatory requirements, and achieves high reliability
- Interface with operations, flight reliability teams, and external regulatory partners (e.g., FAA)
- Assess and communicate FTS readiness for flight and generate certification deliverables for multiple launch ranges
- Manage configuration changes, vehicle risk assessments, and post-flight reporting
Education
- Bachelor's in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or computer engineering, or physics
