Outreach Representative

Overview

  • This position is open until filled with an initial application review to take place after September 22, 2025.
  • The pay rate is $26.52 per hour, 40 hours per week, and is non-negotiable. 

 

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Marketing, the Outreach Representative is responsible for outreach and recruitment efforts for SDSU Global Campus courses and degree programs

 

The Outreach Representative champions the growth of Global Campus partnerships and community outreach to grow Global Campus enrollments and build brand awareness, assists with the coordination and implementation of outreach strategies and actions, as well as represents Global Campus to external constituents (e.g. prospective students, industry partners, campus teams, professional associations, etc.). In this capacity, the Outreach Representative is responsible for engagement tactics from inquiry to application/registration. The Outreach Representative will work with the Outreach Supervisor in the development and implementation of outreach and communication to prospective students. Work assignments will be of a complex level requiring detailed administrative procedures, professional written and verbal communication skills, and recruitment practices with notable accountability for end results.

Responsibilities

Outreach and Program Promotion – 80%

  • Contacts prospects (email, telephone, face-to-face, text, and events) to schedule meetings and explain/answer questions and conduct presentations related to prospective student inquiries with current and accurate program-specific information, proactively communicate with/follow up/gather information from leads.
  • Conducts outreach with current and prospective organizational partners by working in collaboration with Global Campus leadership, faculty, and staff in identifying potential partnership and lead generating opportunities resulting in increased enrollment rates and overall institutional awareness. Informs and meets with leadership on outreach and partnership events for planning direction.
  • Implement, attend, and manage recruitment activities such as webinars, education fairs, trade shows, conferences, open house/information sessions, prospective student meetings. (May include traveling out of San Diego.)
  • Guide prospective participants through their range of options, helping them select the program that will best meet their needs and capacities. Initiates campaigns to prospective students to impact lead conversion.
  • Work in collaboration with marketing team leadership to integrate and apply agreed-upon, streamlined processes and to help identify areas for process improvements. Monitor lead and enrollment activity with responsibility for achieving key metrics in lead conversion process
  • Provide regular reports of prospective student experiences to Marketing Team in the spirit of continual improvement
  • Participate in on- and off-campus outreach and recruitment activities and events. Host informational table rotating through high-traffic areas of campus

 

Customer Service Administration – 10%

  • Accurately and comprehensively capture and document prospective student data into CRM and maintain accurate records and contact logs, etc.
  • Maintain business protocol for handing off leads to the Enrollment team
  • Assist in the development of outreach communication materials to support program promotion
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to gather current program information to share with prospective students. Document and maintain current information in a shared resource tool for other Outreach Representatives.

Miscellaneous – 10%

  • Performs other duties as assigned which may arise from the changing and evolving nature of SDSU Global Campus.

Qualifications

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Exceptional community relations/outreach skills, ability to represent Global Campus and help build public understanding of the brand, values, and capabilities of online education.
  • Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to project professional competence, leadership capability and personal maturity with a wide range of individuals in a diverse community.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to edit materials for clarity and syntax.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices in customer service.
  • Ability to handle multiple work priorities and projects. Ability to work well with frequent interruptions, deadlines, etc.
  • A flexible and creative thinker able to find and create opportunities for lead generation.
  • An independent, strategic thinker with good judgment, sensitivity, and common sense. Commitment to diversity and equality.
  • Actively seeks to influence, build effective relationships, and gain alignment with peers, functional partners, and/or external partners to accomplish business objectives.
  • Ability to speak in public and present information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong computer skills with experience using Office 365, G-Suite, and Salesforce, as well as other standard and custom software applications.
  • Ability to work in a performance-based environment with established performance expectations and metrics.
  • Self-motivated, outgoing and results oriented; ability and desire to set and reach achieving measurable and challenging goals to support organizational success.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends with advance notice.
  • Ability to build effective relationships.

Minimum Required Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications or related field. 
  • Two-years of related professional or technical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in an outreach, admissions, or student services role.
  • Experience working at a university.
  • Experience working with students and special populations such as continuing education for adult and non-traditional learners
  • Experience in working leads/inquiries in a marketing department.
  • CRM experience utilizing Salesforce.
  • Access to transportation for off-campus events.
