Senior Spacecraft Operations Engineer II
Skills
- U.S. citizenship required (ITAR/regulatory reasons)
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace, systems, software engineering or related engineering field
- 8+ years experience in space mission design, satellite subsystems, ground systems, or spacecraft operations
- Experience with modern development practices: git, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with Linux and software development in Python, Ruby, C, C++, or similar languages
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, and experience working under schedule pressure
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain automated processes and tools for spacecraft operations and telemetry analysis
- Support spacecraft ground testing, launch windows, and on-orbit operations to meet mission objectives and SLAs
- Coordinate cross-functionally with launch operations, subsystem engineers, flight software, and AIT to deliver operational outcomes
- Monitor spacecraft health and execute command sequences, anomaly resolution, and incident response
- Contribute to forward planning, operational procedures, and lessons-learned to improve ground and space capabilities
- Document operations, create runbooks, and train team members on operational procedures
Education
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or similar
- Advanced degree (MS/PhD) is beneficial but not required
