Senior Power Electronics Engineer, High-Power Applications
Skills
- Expertise in power electronics and switch-mode topologies
- Design experience with high-voltage, high-power DC/DC converters and inverters (hundreds of kW to MW)
- Strong control theory and control implementation skills
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and testing high-power systems
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-461, 464, 810, DO-160 or similar standards
- Experience with EMI/EMC design and testing
- Ability to produce schematics, block diagrams and PCB-level designs
- Experience working in defense, aerospace, industrial or electrification sectors
Responsibilities
- Act as subject matter expert for power conversion across assigned programs
- Lead electrical design, test and integration of high-voltage, high-power subsystems from concept to production
- Collaborate with mechanical, systems, and software engineers to optimize component selection and system integration
- Create clear block diagrams and schematics for power electronic systems
- Perform trade-offs for component selection against size, weight and power requirements
- Drive system-level reliability goals and design-for-reliability activities
- Coordinate vendor selection and manage vendor performance for critical power components
- Plan and execute validation, EMI/EMC testing, and compliance activities
Education
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (required)
- MS or PhD in power electronics or related field (preferred)
