Stage Fluids Engineer II
Skills
- Proficiency with commercial CAD (NX, Creo, or SolidWorks)
- Practical experience with GD&T and manufacturing tolerances
- Experience selecting and integrating fluid system components (fittings, seals, valves, regulators)
- Experience using FEA tools for structural analysis
- Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA and interactions with vendors
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing and designing for 3D printing
- Strong problem-solving, written and verbal communication, and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
- Perform fluids routing and design trade studies for propellant, pressurant, and pneumatic systems
- Design mounting structures and mechanical hardware for fluid system components
- Perform mechanical verification including hand calculations and FEA to establish structural margins
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) with close collaboration to manufacturing
- Incorporate additive manufacturing (3D printing) methods into fluid system hardware design
- Collaborate cross-functionally with propulsion, manufacturing, test, and suppliers to iterate designs
- Support system testing, integration, and vendor interactions to validate hardware
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering discipline
- Relevant coursework or experience in fluids, structures, and mechanical design
