Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Welding
Skills
- Experience with aerospace fusion welding processes (GTAW, robotic, laser)
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, inspection, and GD&T
- Strong fundamentals in statics, mechanics of materials, fastening/joining, basic metallurgy
- Process improvement and factory design experience
- Ability to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals
- Familiarity with welding codes/standards (e.g., AWS D17.1)
Responsibilities
- Own fusion welded assemblies work centers (grid fins, domes, transfer tubes, etc.) to meet production rate requirements
- Design and implement tooling suites and robust welding processes in collaboration with engineers and technicians
- Create work instructions, process specifications, and best practices for high-fidelity welding operations
- Establish inaugural work cell stations considering assembly flow, tooling, capital equipment, and rate targets
- Support live shop-floor issue resolution and provide iterative feedback for manufacturing improvements
- Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback to structures teams during development and prototype/flight builds
Education
- Bachelor's degree in aeronautical, mechanical, or related engineering required
- 5+ years of progressive, related manufacturing/engineering experience
