We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

Job Summary:

What you need to know about the role
You will work intimately with web and mobile app API clients, product, and platform teams to create secure, reliable APIs that enable users to send money abroad with Xoom, a PayPal product. You will actively be deploying new applications, diagnosing runtime systems, and putting that knowledge to use making the next generation of APIs.

The Xoom Consumer Orchestration team creates the outward facing APIs to support four mobile apps, and numerous web appllcations. As part of the larger Xoom organization in PayPal, we work hand in hand to bring the best experiences to our customers. Work across silos with engaged engineers, to learn and teach. • Work with Product and other Engineering teams to improve the world standard remittance experience
• Standardize user experience across many application modalities
• Ensure 99.999% reliability at scale, with a zero defect mentality. Our users trust us with their money is safe.

Your day-to-day

In your day-to-day role you will

• Design, code, test and deploy features/functions delivered via applications and services.
• Collaborate frequently with other developers to design and implement the required solutions.
• Partner with product managers to deliver high quality solutions on time.
• Participate in formal and informal code reviews to ensure code quality.
• Actively contribute to our automated test suite to enable speedy and reliable continuous integration.
• Leverage the latest observability tools to monitor our applications and services are highly available and reliable.
• Be a champion of high-performance, secure, and reliable software services.
• Work with product and design teams to develop new ideas and explore new opportunities to foster innovation.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with all non-technical stakeholders (Product, Design, Business, etc)

What do you need to bring

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience of 6+ years).
• Proficient in back-end development using Java EE technologies (e.g. Java language, application servers, servlet containers, Docker).
• Experience with HTTP, REST API's and competent designing and building web services/microservices in a commercial setting.
• Experience with observability tools for monitoring and debugging live applications

The US national annual pay range for this role is $123,500 to $212,850

For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace, ensuring that you equally have the benefits and conveniences of both locations.
