The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race and Ethnicity seeks to hire a community outreach analyst to contribute to several initiatives at the local and statewide levels. This position will participate in organizing logistics and assisting the Manager of Operations and Executive Director with the execution and implementation of ongoing initiatives that cross a variety of subject areas, including but not limited to education, employment, health, and housing. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Kirwan Institute, community organizations, and members of the broader community who are engaged in the institute’s research projects. In this way the community outreach analyst will contribute to building partnerships and relationships within the local Columbus area and throughout the state of Ohio by navigating university functions designed to foster Kirwan’s mission of robust research in partnership with communities. They may also be asked to assist in coordinating data collection from community partners to meet established research goals and benchmarks or to assist in the development of funding proposals as needed.
This position also has an active level of engagement with university partners. First, the community outreach analyst at Kirwan serves as building coordinator, providing expertise and relationship building with public safety, FOD, and mail services. Second, the community outreach analyst supervises undergraduate student workers, providing them with project assignments and monitoring the progress of those projects. Third and finally, the community outreach analyst assists with event and operations logistics. In this capacity the community outreach analyst may be asked to participate in events and convenings that support the institute’s goals and strategies.
Educational and Experience Requirements Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in social psychology, sociology, African/African American Studies, Education, Public Policy, or related social science fields. Demonstrated knowledge of the impact of race on public policy and opportunities for underserved communities.
Strong ability to communicate complex ideas in an accessible manner in writing and orally.
Previous Experience of 2 years of responsibilities associated with public speaking and writing documents designed for public audiences regarding subjects associated with the study of race and ethnicity
Desired Qualifications:
Master’s degree in social psychology, sociology, African/African American Studies, Education, or related social science fields.
The target hiring range for this job profile is $ $47,700- 48,852 The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
