This position is a job rotation anticipated to last 6 months, though may be extended or decreased due to business need. This rotation available for current regular status employees of the Oregon Department of Corrections, Oregon Corrections Enterprises, or Oregon Board of Parole, Probation, and Post-Prison Supervision with their current manger's approval.
While this position is based out of Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, statewide coverage at other Institutions will be required as needed.
In this role, you will direct, manage, and coordinate all activities for transition programs within the institution, ensuring they support adults in custody (AICs) as they move from incarceration back into the community.
You will lead the implementation of new program components, identify and resolve barriers to successful transition, and design initiatives that align with sound correctional practices and policy. Collaboration is central to this work—you will partner with state agencies, private organizations, and local governments to build strong networks of support and enhance transition outcomes.
You will conduct needs assessment to determine what resources and services each adult in custody participating in the program will need. Deliver components of the curriculum such as employment, working with a parole officer (PO), family, financial management, etc. Facilitate group discussion. Record data, track participants, and participation details. Meet with release counselor and PO to discuss AIC progress and activities, identify special needs, and coordinate PO reach-in. Work with resource providers to create linkages to needed services.

This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; and two (2) years experience coordinating or administering a program
OR
Any combination of experience or education equivalent to five (5) years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.
All work performed within a secure adult prison which requires extensive contact with AICs; numerous meetings and some travel; stress with deadlines for various work products.
While this position is based out of Deer Ridge Correctional Institution, statewide coverage at other Institutions will be required as needed.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.
