Technical Product Manager

About NetX

NetX has been building and supporting Digital Asset Management (DAM) solutions for more than 20 years. We help organizations organize, protect, and make better use of their digital assets, and our customers range from sports teams and Fortune 500 companies to museums, universities, nonprofits, and global organizations. We are now entering an exciting next phase of growth, with expanded platform capabilities and the upcoming launch of a next-generation, AI-powered intelligence platform. This work reflects our focus on building practical, scalable solutions that deliver real value for our customers.

Based in Portland, Oregon, NetX is a collaborative and close-knit team that values ownership, teamwork, and strong relationships. We continue to grow and adapt as our customers’ needs evolve.

Please note: This role is intended for U.S.-based candidates to support alignment with our team’s location and business needs.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Product Manager with a strong technical background to help shape the future of a new, greenfield AI-driven product currently in development. This role is ideal for someone who has transitioned from software development into product management and can effectively bridge technical possibilities with customer needs.

You will own key product areas, define product strategy and roadmaps, and work closely with engineering, sales, and customer success teams to deliver solutions that drive measurable business value. The role requires a data-driven mindset, the ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps, and end-to-end ownership of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define product strategy and roadmap for major features and capabilities of the new AI-driven product
  • Partner with leadership to align product direction with strategic goals
  • Conduct customer discovery and research to identify user needs and opportunities
  • Analyze usage data, customer feedback, and market insights to inform prioritization
  • Translate customer needs and market opportunities into detailed requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and test coverage
  • Collaborate with engineering teams (internal and/or external) to ensure successful delivery
  • Advocate for the customer while balancing market, technical, and industry considerations
  • Coalesce diverse inputs into a coherent and executable product roadmap

Given your technical background, you will participate in architectural discussions, evaluate technical trade-offs, and contribute to build-versus-buy decisions. You will work closely with cloud infrastructure on AWS, making informed decisions related to scalability, performance, and cost optimization, while keeping customer outcomes at the center.

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of product management experience with a proven track record of shipping successful B2B software products
  • 3+ years of hands-on software development experience, including writing production code and working within engineering teams
  • Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle
  • Strong AWS experience, including familiarity with core services, cloud architecture patterns, and infrastructure decision-making
  • Ability to engage deeply with engineers while translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with AI and machine learning concepts and technologies
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience conducting user research and translating insights into action
  • Comfort with data-driven decision-making, prioritization frameworks, and stakeholder management
  • Proven ability to manage a product throughout its lifecycle
  • Experience developing product strategy and presenting recommendations to executive leadership
  • Willingness to roll up sleeves and take ownership

Education

  • MS or BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent preferred

Ideal Domain Knowledge

  • Aha! or similar product management tools
  • Figma or similar design tools
  • Jira or similar issue-tracking tools
  • GitLab or similar version control platforms
  • Shape Up development methodology
  • Experience with enterprise software, SaaS business models, or digital asset management systems
  • Familiarity with API strategy and developer-focused products
  • Experience with search technologies and machine learning applications
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Familiarity with product analytics tools
  • Project management experience

Work Environment & Travel

This position operates in a professional office environment in Portland and is a fully remote role with no travel required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they meet approximately 70% of the listed qualifications. NetX values practical experience alongside formal education.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Prior experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) products
  • Experience working with digital media and related tools, including Adobe Creative Suite, multimedia software such as iMovie or iPhoto, and imaging or transcoding engines

Culture & Work Environment

NetX is a high-trust, entrepreneurial environment where ownership, creativity, and initiative are valued, and results are recognized. Our culture emphasizes:

  • Great teammates over egos
  • Appreciation and recognition
  • Innovation over bureaucracy
  • Work that is measurable, meaningful, and visible
  • Rewarding contribution and impact

You will not just manage features—you will help build the growth engine of the company and bring a category-shaping intelligence platform to market.

  • Competitive salary
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Life insurance and short- and long-term disability coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays
  • Commuting expense assistance
  • Friendly dogs welcome in the office
  • A company that invests in people, celebrates wins, and rewards results
