Staff Software Engineer - Developer Experience
Skills
- 10+ years developing large-scale distributed systems using Java, Python, Go, or similar languages
- Hands-on experience with developer-oriented SDLC workflows and developer infrastructure
- Deep experience with developer portal products (e.g., Backstage) and driving adoption
- Familiarity with build systems (Gradle, Maven, Make) and CI/CD tools (CodeBuild, Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions)
- Strong cloud, containerization, and IaC experience (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Ansible)
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana)
- Ability to define and use metrics to drive engineering decisions and measure productivity improvements
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Responsibilities
- Drive design, development, testing, and deployment of DevEx tooling and services focused on developer productivity and happiness
- Define and execute a data-driven roadmap using developer feedback and measurable outcomes
- Advocate and communicate vision, key results, and product strategy clearly across teams and leadership
- Conduct DevEx surveys, analyze feedback, and prioritize cross-team initiatives and product features
- Ship developer portals, CI/CD improvements, and self-service tooling to reduce toil and speed delivery
- Mentor and lead junior and mid-level engineers to deliver scalable, maintainable solutions
- Collaborate with engineering stakeholders to instrument and measure Inner/Outer Loop latency and other SDLC health metrics
Education
- BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- Advanced degree in a related field is a plus but not required
