Job Description

SUMMARY

Compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete.  Perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records.  Position may also check the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

 

  • Follow all processes and procedures associated with the Tyler Union Safety Program.  Advise management of any deviations from this program.
  • Assist Division Controller with cost tracking and reporting.
  • Perform aspects of the accounts payable function by matching purchase orders to invoices and entering the invoices into the software (Microsoft D365) according to department policies and deadlines. Identify errors or discrepancies and resolve before processing.
  • Perform aspects of accounts payable and cash application.
  • Assist with sorting and opening of inbound office mail and distribute to the proper department as needed
  • Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
  • Perform general office duties such as filing, answering telephones, and handling routine correspondence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

 

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Minimum Sophomore status in Accredited College Accounting or Business program.

  • Knowledge/Skills required to perform this job includes clerical, mathematics, customer/personal service, electronics, time management, critical thinking, active listening, and reading comprehension.
  • Abilities required to perform this job include oral comprehension, written comprehension, written expression, oral expression, information ordering, speech recognition, category flexibility, selective attention, and speech clarity.

    • Performing administrative activities, analyzing data or information, making decisions and solving problems, monitoring processes, materials, and surroundings, evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, and monitoring and controlling resources.
  • Physical activities for this job are those required for working in an office environment.
  • As necessary, must wear common protective or safety equipment, such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and hard hats.
