Under the direction of the Manufacturing Technologies Manager, this position will be responsible for the technical aspects, process improvements, equipment design, and project management associated with the various manufacturing processes.
Evaluate manufacturing processes including product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials and develop and implement improvements.
Improve manufacturing processes by studying product requirements, inspecting equipment, processes, operations, assembly, testing manufacturing methods utilized, and designing and implementing of tooling/fixtures.
Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, and work cell balance.
Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs.
Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures, requesting special service.
Participate in or lead capital improvement projects for new equipment and/or retrofits.
Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information to justify machine improvements, process changes and/or capital investments.
Provide manufacturing engineering information.
Comply with all applicable government regulations.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
Experience as a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision.
Knowledge of production machinery, processes and strong mechanical aptitude.
Strong verbal and technical writing skills with the ability to communicate to broad audiences.
Knowledge of quality tools and continuous improvement methodologies a plus. (FMEA, Root Cause, 5S, Six Sigma, and Process Flow Analysis).
Proficient in Microsoft Office to include, Outlook, Excel, and Word, Autodesk Inventor or similar 3D modeling software.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee works in an office setting and has plant exposure on occasion. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines, and may involve exposure to moderate noise levels from high-speed printers and other peripherals. When working in the plant, this position
may involve potential exposure to hazardous materials, and environmental changes (heat/cold), and the employee must be able to work under stress occasioned by production requirements, personnel, and the needs of other departments, utilizing proper body mechanics.
