We value and share an infinite range of ideas and voices that evolve and broaden our perspectives with a reach that extends into all our brands, partners, and suppliers.

Job Description

The Opportunity:

Seeking a professional and detail-oriented Global Licensing Manager to support Mattel’s in-licensing programs across multiple categories. This individual will manage relationships with external partners, negotiate licensing agreements, and ensure brand integrity and alignment across product lines and markets. This is a critical role that works cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, Legal, Royalty Accounting, Consumer Products, Mattel Film, Mattel TV, and Sales to drive company growth within toys and support other Mattel lines of business.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Act as the primary liaison for licensors and licensing agents, managing relationships, and identifying potential licensing opportunities aligned with brand strategy and objectives.
  • Serve as the central point of contact across multiple business segments, collaborating with internal teams including product marketing, brand marketing, finance, legal, royalty accounting, consumer products, and franchise.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure licensing strategies are fully integrated with product development plans.
  • Conduct regular audits and analyze sales and royalty data to identify financial discrepancies; work cross-functionally to resolve issues and ensure compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Develop and evaluate financial models to support licensing proposals and business cases.
  • Lead negotiations for new license agreements, renewals, contract extensions, and amendments.
  • Represent the licensing function in brand team meetings to provide updates on license status, communicate contractual obligations, align on product timelines, and offer strategic solutions or opportunities.
  • Maintain comprehensive, accurate records of all license agreements and related documentation.
  • Manage special product order requests, Trademark Release Letters, and coordinate with Legal on IP enforcement and infringement matters.
  • Maintain and regularly distribute departmental reports and internal updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and lead preparation for trade shows, brand presentations, and internal licensing business reviews.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in consumer products and brand licensing; experience in the toy industry is a strong asset.
  • Ability to analyze and draw conclusions from data, communicate, and present actionable insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to both internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills with strong attention to detail; capable of managing multiple projects and licensors simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative team player with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships across all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
  • Solid understanding of product development processes; prior experience in product development is highly desirable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; a focus in Licensing, Business, Marketing, or related discipline is preferred.
  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
