The Role

We are seeking a company-wide Health & Safety Lead to design, implement, and lead our safety strategy across all departments. Reporting directly to the COO, you will build safety programs from the ground up for new greenfield sites, standardize best practices across existing facilities, and embed a proactive safety culture across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines deep OSHA and MSHA expertise with experience digitizing safety systems, and a hands-on, collaborative approach to partnering with operations teams—from project design to commissioning to steady-state operations.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement a comprehensive safety management system across all Mariana operations (initial focus: US and Canada).

• Design safety programs for greenfield project sites that meet or exceed OSHA and MSHA regulations.

• Standardize and harmonize safety processes and policies across all facilities.

• Lead safety initiatives at headquarters, including the lab and pilot plant.

• Partner closely with site safety leads to ensure consistent execution.

• Drive digitization of safety processes—incident reporting, training records, audits, compliance tracking—in collaboration with our software team.

• Conduct and oversee risk assessments (e.g., HAZOPs), hazard analyses, and job safety analyses.

• Integrate safety into engineering, construction, and operations workflows.

• Develop and roll out a company-wide safety training program.

• Coach managers, supervisors, and employees on safety standards and best practices.

• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely compliance updates.

• Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to track safety performance.

• Serve as primary contact with safety regulators, contractors, and key stakeholders.

• Initially function as an individual contributor, with the potential to lead a safety team as we grow.

What You Bring

• Proven track record of building proactive safety cultures and achieving measurable safety improvements.

• 10+ years of progressive safety experience in chemical, industrial, refining, mining, or heavy construction environments.

• Leadership experience in safety management strongly preferred.

• Deep knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, applied in real-world operations.

• Experience developing safety programs for new facilities or greenfield projects.

• Proficiency in implementing and managing digital safety systems.

• Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills across all levels.

• Willingness to travel regularly to project sites in the US and Canada.
