Knowledge Base Writer

As a Knowledge Base Writer, you will create and organize helpful articles and guides for our customers and employees. You will write clear instructions that everyone can understand. You will work with technical teams to explain complex information in simple ways.

Responsibilities

  • Write clear technical documents (like software guides, user manuals, how-to articles, and update notes)
  • Work with software developers and product teams to understand new features
  • Translate technical language into simple English that anyone can understand
  • Create helpful images like diagrams, screenshots, and flowcharts
  • Organize documents so people can easily find what they need
  • Test the instructions you write to make sure they work correctly
  • Update old documents to keep them accurate and useful
  • Work with support teams to understand what documentation need
  • Create standard formats and templates to keep all documents consistent
  • Work on new projects and suggest ways to improve our documentation

Requirements:

  • Must be Tier III employee or higher (internal requirement)
  • Must meet or exceed quality standards
  • No current disciplinary warnings
  • Good attendance record
  • Can work from any location
  • Must work Monday-Friday, 6 AM to 5 PM Central Time
  • Strong writing skills - can explain difficult things in simple ways
  • Experience writing different types of technical documents
  • Comfortable asking engineers many questions to get information
  • Knowledge of documentation software like Confluence, Zendesk Guide, or similar
  • Good research skills to find information from different places
  • Can manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Good organization and problem-solving skills
  • Works well with others and communicates clearly

Bonus points if you're familiar with:

  • Experience with Bettermode (community documentation platform)
  • Experience with BrowserStack (website testing tool)
  • Experience with Vellum (documentation writing tool)
  • Basic understanding of software development
  • Can read simple code examples
  • Knows version control systems like Git
  • Knows markup languages like Markdown or HTML
  • Understands SEO (making content easy to find in search engines)

Preferred Experience (but not required)

  • Writing API documentation (guides for programmers)
  • Experience with "docs-as-code" (treating documentation like code)
  • Experience with Confluence and Jira software
  • Documentation for online marketplaces or platforms
  • Experience in lawn care or home services industry
  • Experience with Bettermode, BrowserStack, or Vellum
