COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT MANAGER

Overview

Reports to: Director of Operations or Vice President of Operations

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salaried Exempt

Normal Working Hours –Office: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday, plus additional hours as required for completing duties.

Position Objective:

We are seeking a passionate and strategic Community Engagement Manager to support outreach initiatives, strengthen partnerships, coordinate volunteers, and drive fundraising efforts. This role is ideal for a skilled event planner and relationship-builder who can effectively support communication efforts while focusing on community engagement and program execution.

Responsibilities

Partnership Development

• Cultivate relationships with local businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and other organizations to enhance community impact.
• Develop and implement community engagement strategies for construction projects.
• Identify and secure sponsorships, in-kind donations, and collaborative opportunities.
• Maintain strong partnerships that support ongoing programs and initiatives.

People Person & Relationship Building

• Serve as a positive, approachable presence within the organization and the community.
• Foster an inclusive, welcoming environment that encourages collaboration and a sense of belonging.
• Demonstrate empathy, emotional intelligence, and strong interpersonal skills in all interactions.

Event Planning & Coordination

• Plan, organize, and execute community events, workshops, and engagement activities.
• Facilitate communication between construction teams and community members.
• Manage event logistics, vendor relationships, and promotional efforts.
• Ensure events align with organizational goals and enhance community impact.

Volunteer Coordination

• Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to support community programs and events.
• Develop strategies for volunteer engagement and retention.
• Organize recognition efforts to celebrate and appreciate volunteers.

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

• Assist in developing and executing fundraising strategies, including donation drives and corporate sponsorships.
• Coordinate fundraising events and donor engagement activities.
• Build relationships with donors and community supporters to enhance fundraising efforts.

Qualifications

Experience & Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field
• 5 plus years of experience in community engagement, public relations, or stakeholder management
• Knowledge of Austin community organizations
• Experience working in or with educational institutions is a plus
• Experience working with 501c3 organizations, understanding nonprofit operations and community service missions is a plus

Qualifications & Skills:

• Proven experience in event planning, community engagement, or program coordination roles.
• Technical Skills in similar systems such as Canva, Microsoft office, graphic design, web conferencing
• Strong partnership development, volunteer coordination, and fundraising skills.
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong written communication skills and experience with outreach materials.
• Experience with social media, marketing, or public relations is a plus.
• Strong Presentation and public speaking abilities.
