This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Agile Six. We are currently looking for a Senior Fullstack (Frontend Focused) Engineer in the United States.
This role offers the opportunity to design and implement Veteran-facing digital forms and multi-party workflows on a high-profile federal platform. You will work on front-end architecture, integrating complex workflows with back-end APIs, while ensuring accessibility, security, and compliance. The position emphasizes hands-on coding, rapid prototyping, and system-level thinking, with collaboration in small cross-functional teams. You will leverage modern frameworks, automated testing, and innovative tools to streamline development and improve form delivery. · Build intuitive, accessible, and production-ready digital forms using the VA Design System and VA forms system.
· Integrate front-end solutions with backend APIs and submission endpoints, ensuring secure and validated data flow.
· Implement complex validations, conditional logic, and privacy controls around sensitive data.
· Design multi-party workflows for Veterans, employers, and medical providers.
· Generate PDFs/JSON while maintaining data integrity and compliance.
· Write automated tests for form logic, validations, accessibility, and output accuracy (Cypress, Playwright, axe, pa11y).
· Collaborate with small cross-functional teams leveraging AI and innovative tools to optimize form delivery.
· Support system scalability, troubleshoot production issues, and improve development processes.
· Mentor colleagues, participate in code reviews, and share knowledge to strengthen team capabilities.
· 7+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on front-end frameworks.
· 4+ years of recent experience with React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
· At least one year of experience building products or services within the VA.gov ecosystem.
· Expertise in the VA Design System and accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 / Section 508).
· Experience with automated testing tools (Cypress, Playwright, axe, pa11y).
· Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex tasks.
· Experience in Agile, self-organizing environments, collaborating with research, design, and product teams.
· Deep understanding of secure handling of PII and privacy compliance in healthcare or federal applications.
· Ability to design scalable solutions and make informed architectural decisions.
· Must have lived and worked in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years.
Desired Qualifications:
· Experience with vets-json-schema or PDF/JSON output generation (PDFFill).
· Node.js, Python, or Ruby on Rails for workflow service APIs.
· CI/CD and cloud environment experience (AWS, Azure; GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
· Experience leveraging AI tools in software development.
