Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services using Ruby on Rails
- Implement and manage Sidekiq background jobs and Redis caching/queueing
- Design PostgreSQL schemas, optimize queries, and tune database performance
- Diagnose, triage, and resolve production incidents to improve uptime and reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to deliver features and meet requirements
- Follow VA Platform One, enterprise GitHub practices, and VA standards where applicable
- Contribute to CI/CD, automated tests, and DevSecOps best practices
- Mentor engineers and participate in Agile ceremonies
Education
- Bachelor's degree (required) or equivalent experience in a related field
- Some roles may require U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain background investigation/clearance
