Principal Data Analyst

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Data Analyst to drive advanced analytics, reporting, and optimization initiatives across complex digital programs. This role offers the opportunity to support mission-driven organizations by transforming large data sets into actionable insights, improving performance, and informing strategic decisions. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to guide analytical best practices, develop robust dashboards, and manage sophisticated reporting processes. The position involves both hands-on analysis and leadership responsibilities, supporting stakeholders at all levels and elevating analytical capabilities across the organization. Accountabilities:
  • Lead the development of reports and analyses including ROI assessments, retention analysis, testing insights, and performance reporting.
  • Build and maintain custom reporting dashboards across digital channels, ensuring efficient and accurate data collection processes.
  • Contribute to the annual Benchmarks report through data collection, analysis, and quality assurance.
  • Provide support to teams through training, guidance on data tools, and clear explanations of complex analytical concepts.
  • Partner with internal teams to solve data challenges, break down requirements, structure analytical approaches, and communicate results effectively.
  • Manage projects involving analysts, developers, vendors, and internal staff, ensuring high-quality deliverables and timely execution.
  • Identify opportunities to introduce new tools and methodologies that enhance data capabilities and improve client outcomes.
Requirements:
  • 7–9 years of professional experience in data analysis, including at least 5+ years in marketing, advertising, or eCommerce settings with exposure to testing frameworks.
  • Experience in nonprofit, advocacy, or political campaign environments.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel, SQL, and either R or Python for data manipulation and analysis.
  • Proven ability to deconstruct complex data challenges and design logical, scalable analytical workflows.
  • Skilled in gathering requirements, annotating data deliverables, and explaining analytical processes to diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fundraising or e-commerce database structures and associated coding/measurement practices.
  • Experience leading projects or teams and coordinating work across multiple contributors.
  • Demonstrated commitment to anti-racism, equity, and inclusion, along with strong collaboration, empathy, integrity, and communication skills.
  • High level of attention to detail, strong prioritization abilities, and the capacity to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to work within inclusive decision-making environments and accept feedback constructively.
  • Preferred but not required: experience with Google Analytics, Tableau, and A/B test design or evaluation.
