SUMMARY:

The Marketing Manager leads the strategy, development and execution of marketing initiatives that drive engagement with In-Shape’s recreation and sports programs - including our Elite Sports program which includes basketball and soccer swim programs, tennis, racquetball, other youth programs and key sports and community partnerships. This role is responsible for building strong emotional and practical connections with members across digital and in-club touchpoints. The ideal candidate is a creative and strategic marketer who excels at storytelling, content creation and community engagement, turning member experiences and program highlights into compelling campaigns that inspire action.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program & Campaign Leadership:

  • Develop and execute integrated marketing strategies for recreation and sports programs, ensuring alignment with brand objectives and member needs.
  • Oversee campaign planning, creative development and execution of partner marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with the brand’s objectives.
  • Collaborate with the internal teams and external agencies to develop creative assets, including advertising, social media, and in-store materials.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for all campaigns and initiatives.

Content & Storytelling:

  • Lead the content strategy for social media, blogs, member email, and in-club communications ensuring all messaging reflects In-Shape’s brand voice and values.
  • Transform member stories and program highlights into engaging content that supports themes such as family fitness, wellness, and community involvement.
  • Directly manage and mentor the Social & Content Coordinator

Product Ideation & Innovation:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on new product and program ideation and development, ensuring market relevance and brand consistency.

Event & Partnership Marketing:

  • Plan and execute brand-focused events, sponsorships, and partnerships that enhance visibility and member engagement.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships that align with organizational values, enhance customer connection and support business objectives.
  • Lead the annual cause marketing campaigns (e.g., Fight Cancer fundraising campaign)

In-Club Marketing & Signage:

  • Oversee the strategy and execution of in-club marketing signage, managing vendor relationships and ensuring effective communication with the club teams (in partnership with Ops Services.)

Analytics & Reporting:

  • Analyze campaign performance and report on key metrics and KPIs
  • Present actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.

Strategic Collaboration:

  • Partner with Director and/or CMO as needed on high-level campaign briefs, special projects and department initiatives.
  • Contribute to broader marketing initiatives as needed.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 5-6+ years of progressive experience in marketing or product management, ideally within recreation, fitness, wellness or sports sectors; experience with P&L responsibility is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, campaign analytics and cross-funtional collaboration
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams and organizational levels, building trust and managing diverse perspectives
  • Creative thinker with expertise in storytelling, content development, and digital marketing
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated, results-oriented and able to thrive in a professional, fast paced, creative, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify challenges, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions
  • Proficient in PC-based applications, including MS Office (especially Excel) and Adobe Acrobat; experience with InDesign and Photoshop is a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizations skills with the ability to manage time, resources, and communication across all levels of the organization
  • Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
  • Team-oriented and adept at managing several projects simultaneously

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sit for extended periods of time. Team members are occasionally required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; occasional reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and occasionally reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. Team members working in the clubs may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
