Business Development Specialist, Transportation

About the Role:

The Business Development Specialist – Transportation plays a key role in supporting our producers and transportation clients by driving new business opportunities and ensuring a high level of client service. This role bridges sales development and account servicing: scheduling prospect appointments, maintaining a strong pipeline, assisting with proposals, and supporting the book of business. The Specialist partners closely with producers, carriers, and internal teams to deliver tailored solutions to our transportation clients.

What You’ll Do:

Prospecting & Business Development

  • Schedule appointments and coordinate meetings for Sales Producers with qualified transportation prospects.
  • Research and maintain a prospect database to identify new opportunities and support business growth.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and consult on potential insurance solutions for clients.
  • Participate in marketing programs, industry events, and HUB-sponsored initiatives to generate leads.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with prospective and existing clients through phone calls, networking, events, and other outreach strategies.

Sales & Client Support

  • Support the Producer on all new business accounts, including gathering documentation and ensuring complete submissions to carriers.
  • Help manage and service accounts within the book of business to ensure continuity, retention, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with Producers and Account Managers to cross-sell additional coverages that benefit the client.
  • Provide timely updates on pipeline, forecasts, and new prospects to the Market Leader.

Teamwork, Collaboration & Innovation

  • Partner with team members to share insights, identify challenges, and contribute to new ideas, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend trainings, courses, and team meetings to build and maintain insurance and sales knowledge.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, producers, and carriers to ensure seamless communication and execution.

Qualifications & Experience to be Successful:

  • Florida 2-20 Property & Casualty License required
  • 5+ years’ experience with Commercial Lines accounts and strong technical knowledge of middle market and large CL insurance
  • EPIC experience is a plus but not required
