Job Summary:
The Collections Assistant (NAGPRA) supports the management, cataloging, organization, rehousing, handling, and movement of archaeological and ethnographic collections as required for compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) at the Peabody Museum. This project expedites the implementation of the repatriation of Native American ancestors, funerary belongings, and cultural items subject to the Act and its associated federal regulations. This is a one-year term position reporting to the Collections Manager.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
Assess, properly handle, and appropriately house objects of Indigenous culture.
Complete physical inventories of NAGPRA collections and enter associated data into the Museum’s database (TMS).
Provides collections management support to NAGPRA department staff during on-site and remote consultations.

Work Format Details
This position is based on-site at a Harvard campus location. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. Certain visa types may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
