Job Summary:

We are seeking a creative, forward-thinking Instructional Designer to join our team in developing engaging, interactive, learner-centric experiences for our Operations call centers supporting GEICO Sales, Service, and Claims. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing multimedia learning content, including eLearning, blended learning, instructional videos, interactive software simulations, and microlearning solutions. These solutions will incorporate Learning Models and Adult Learning Theories in conjunction with technology-based tools. The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with business subject matter experts (SMEs), stakeholders, and other instructional designers to assess business needs and expertly apply modern design practices. This individual will be responsible for creating innovative learning solutions that meet the needs of our diverse, evolving workforce and will play a key role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and learning.

Essential Functions:

Design & Development: Create engaging, high-quality learning experiences, including eLearning, instructor-led training, simulations, and microlearning solutions, based on modern instructional design models and adult learning principles.

Collaboration: Partner with SMEs, business stakeholders, and fellow instructional designers to assess performance gaps, business needs, and develop learner-centric instructional solutions.

Needs Analysis & Learning Objectives: Conduct needs analysis to identify performance gaps and define clear learning objectives for various business functions.

Learning Content Creation: Write instructional, informational, and technical content for a variety of delivery methods (e.g., digital media storyboards, classroom facilitation, independent learning, technical writing, and assessments).

Instructional Design Tools: Utilize a variety of instructional design tools, software, and programs to develop and deliver learning content effectively. eLearning Development: Partner with eLearning developers to create storyboards for multimedia content, including videos, simulations, assessments, and interactive learning modules.

Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends, emerging learning technologies, and instructional design best practices through continuous education and professional development.

Analytical Skills: Assess business problems and apply instructional design principles to craft innovative learning solutions that challenge the status quo and drive performance improvements.

Project Execution: Execute project plans and tasks while meeting deadlines and quality standards.

Adherence to Policies: Uphold GEICO's Code of Conduct, company policies, and operating principles, ensuring all learning solutions align with organizational goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in instructional design, adult learning theory, and eLearning development.

  • Proficiency in using instructional design software and tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.).

  • Ability to design and develop complex, multimedia learning content for various delivery methods, including online, classroom, and blended learning formats.

  • Experience applying needs analysis and performance improvement strategies to instructional design.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • A passion for continuous learning and applying new trends and technologies in instructional design.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the role, which may include seeing, hearing, typing, and speaking.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings.

  • Must be able to learn and apply large amounts of technical and procedural information.
