Description

As an Account Manager, you will play a key role in building strong relationships with customers by addressing their transportation needs and concerns, which will enhance their overall experience. Working under close supervision, you will contribute to and help implement sales strategies to achieve budget targets. Additionally, you will analyze data and collaborate closely with the Carrier Sales team to ensure that customers' freight arrives safely, reliably, and efficiently at its destination.

  • Acquire loads from customers via phone, email, and load boards. 
  • Ensure loads are distributed to Carrier Sales Coordinators or Carrier Sales Manager. 
  • Establish, nurture, and grow customer relationships.
  • Drive service excellence with a focus on achieving budgets and driving continuous improvement.
  • Build profitable and professional business relationships with customer base to meet or exceed budgets.
  • Understand internal and external buying influences, budgets and purchasing criteria for all assigned accounts.
  • Quickly and accurately pull, analyze, and prepare data required to respond to customer RFQ’s. 
  • Prepare and present quarterly business reports for customers as necessary.
  • Provide quick, accurate, professional resolution to escalated pick-up, in-transit, and delivery-related issues. 
  • Remain fully informed of all rules and regulations, and other industry requirements related to brokering FTL and LTL shipments. 
  • Able to meet or exceed budgeted goals. 

Required Competencies

  • Possess knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry.
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and goal-driven.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced and sometimes demanding environment.

  • Operate in a professional office environment. Routinely use office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, multiple software platforms.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. 


Position Type and Expected Work Hours
This is a full-time position, and hours of office and days are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position’s hours and days are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. It is understood that this position must be responsive to needs after hours or on weekends. 


Travel

Less than 10% travel is expected for this position. 


Required education and experience

High school diploma.

Experience in the transportation or logistics industry.

Internal applicant requirements: 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in your current position by achieving performance and quality goals and expectations consistently for a minimum of 6 months. 
  • Satisfactorily meet behavior expectations for a minimum of 6 months.

Preferred education and experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

2+ years of experience in the transportation or logistics industry, preferably in a customer-facing capacity.

Pay Transparency:

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the salary information represents the job level minimum and the job level maximum. The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $90,000 per year. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. These and other criteria allowed by law are in place as the best non-discriminatory predictors of successful job performance. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, visions and dental insurance, and retirement.
