The Role
.txt is pioneering the future of AI reliability through structured outputs. As our first Head of Developer Relations, you'll shape how thousands of developers discover, learn, and succeed with our technology. This is a rare opportunity to build a DevRel function from scratch at a company defining a new category.
You will be .txt's "Developer Zero". Our most demanding user and the bridge between what developers need and what we build. You will be in charge of our entire developer experience, from first touch to production success. You will also own end-to-end strategy and execution, from content and documentation to community, partnerships and social presence. This is a high autonomy, high impact role reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with Engineering, R&D, and Open Source.
What You Will Do
Developer Advocacy: Be our first power user and transform hands-on insights into product improvements. You will be the internal champion for developer needs across engineering, product and leadership
Content Strategy: Oversee all public-facing content including documentation, blog posts, case studies, and social media. Work with other teams to showcase our best work externally. You will establish .txt as the definitive voice in structured outputs
Community Building: Create and nurture a thriving developer ecosystem around structured outputs. Create documentation, tutorials, and content that becomes the industry standard
Strategic Partnerships: Establish and nurture collaborations with key developers, startups, and key partners
Team Building: Hire and lead a world-class DevRel team as we scale
You've built something real with LLMs and understand the pain of unreliable outputs
You can understand and explain complex technical concepts in ways that make people excited to learn more
You've grown developer communities
You see documentation as product, not afterthought
You balance developer advocacy with business reality
You're energized by the challenge of building from zero
You have experience working at startups
You live in the Bay Area, or are willing to travel there
Previous experience managing a team is a plus

💸 Competitive compensation and benefits
We pay market rate (adjusting for seed-stage startup) + equity options, offer health and dental insurance, and have a 401k (US Only). We’ll get you a GPU if you don’t have one already.
Location
.txt is a fully remote company. We have a culture of written communication, and favor infrequent organic discussions over regular large team meetings. This role requires regular in-person availability in San Francisco or the Bay Area, given the nature of partnership-building and travel logistics.
